  • Level 1 Food Manager Certification

  • Foodlink offers the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Food Manager training course and certification exam. This is a national certification and is valid for five years.

The 12-hour course (including exam) is held over 2 days (6 hours/day). Students must receive a 70% or higher on the exam to become certified. Upon request, reasonable accommodation can be made for students who require assistance with the training and/or exam.

    Cost of Training & Exam:

    • Foodlink Members: $125
    • Community Members: $175
    • HPNAP Grant Funding: Foodlink is able to provide funding for the cost of the course to one person directly involved with food service per HPNAP-funded Emergency Shelter or Community Meal Site (i.e., Soup Kitchen) operating in Foodlink's service area.

This fee covers all necessary materials, including: ServSafe Manager course book, exam answer sheet, test booklet, study guides, handouts, practice quizzes, etc.

Exam Only (for recertification or retest):
You are eligible to recertify by taking the exam and not attending the training as long as you can show proof of prior valid certification. Those taking the exam for the first time must attend training.

If you have taken the exam and did not pass, you are eligible to retest without attending additional training. Certain restrictions may apply.

    Cost of Exam Only:

    • Foodlink Members: $45
    • Community Members: $95

This fee covers all necessary materials. Note: Exam Only is not eligible for HPNAP grant funding.

Scholarship Funding: Foodlink is able to provide partial scholarships (discounts on the registration fee) to community members who are either:

    • currently unemployed and looking to acquire a job in the food industry, or
    • looking to start a food business (e.g., restaurant, food truck, catering business) and need financial assistance with the registration fee.

Those currently employed in the food industry who need certification should have their employer pay for the registration fee and are not eligible for a discount.

You will have the opportunity within the application to request a partial scholarship.

At this time, Foodlink does not have funding to cover full scholarships. Thank you for your understanding.

    REGISTRATION
Below, you can fill out a registration form to express your interest in attending an upcoming training course & exam or just an upcoming exam. After you submit the registration form, please allow up to 5 business days for a response from Foodlink staff.

The dates listed will state whether the training is being offered at Foodlink (2011 Mt. Read Blvd., Rochester, 14615) or downtown at the Central Library's Bausch & Lomb Building (115 South Ave., Rochester, 14604).

If applicable, the training will state if it will be taught in Spanish. All other trainings are taught in English.

Please note: Submitting a registration form does not guarantee your spot in the upcoming training and/or exam. Foodlink staff may need to follow up with questions.
